venturing abroad / this year started with the continuation of my studies in sweden towards a masters degree, however, as of this summer i have taken a 1-year break to travel further abroad and live in seoul, korea. as a result, i have ended up working with clients across 3 time zones and enjoyed learning the life of a small business owner + fulltime freelancer. in addition to designing and continuing to do development, i've also had more extensive experience in administrative tasks and project management. pragmatic? yes. but it has been quite valuable, too.

a year of chance, a year of change / i continued to work at albertson design before leaving to study for my masters in design at the school of design and crafts (university of gothenburg) in sweden. in addition to continuing work with ted conferences, i completed a couple of personal projects that had been on the back burner for far, far too long.

wanderlust / after nearly 13 years living in maryland, i decided that it was time for a change of scenery. i interviewed at studios in both new york and san francisco before finally deciding to move west to california for the chance to work at albertson design.

graduation + cutting my teeth / after three years studying in baltimore, graduation finally came and i was faced with a predicament: pursue a job in design, venture off to japan to teach english, or try to get myself into the airline industry. you see, i had become jaded by the reality of design – that client's ruled the coop, and moral's were often compromised – and was more interested in finding adventure than jumping on a career path. after turning down the opportunity to go to japan, being rejected by southwest airlines, and freelancing for studios in baltimore and new york, i finally got my break when i started working out of the basement studio of pixels+points, a fledgling baltimore based design studio.
