el sistema usa is an america program developed by and modeled after dr. josé abreu’s el sistema music program in venezuela. the project was the recipient of the ted prize in 2009, and i worked on it as part of the the team at albertson design in san francisco.

our challenge was to create an identity and website that would bring the vibrancy and energy of the venezuelan program into the united states while at the same time making a clear distinction between the two.

one of the unique things about this project is that it brought me into close contact with an inspiring group of people who had set out with the very ambitious goal of bringing music to the youth of america. in the end, this was very rewarding, to know that i was contributing to a project that would have a tangible effect on people’s lives.
