central to the idea(l) of identity is the notion of home.

as a korean adoptee i have at times questioned the notion of ‘home’ and belonging, especially in relation to my cultural heritage. the idea of not being able to call any one place home is something that arose during my time abroad in japan while studying for my bfa. being completely swallowed by a foreign culture and environment immediately prompted my search for solid ground and familiarity inside of myself.

the result was that i came up bare. of course i have an attachment to america, my family, and my upbringing, but at the same time there are some roots that run so deep that they can never be severed. this is what i am searching for.
